1917 Newspaper Cutting

FLIGHT-SERGEANT KILLED AFTER LOOPING THE LOOP.

FLIGHT-SERGT. GEO. DUNVILLE, R.F.C.

Mrs. R. D. Robb and Misses Dunville, 36 Kilbowie Gardens, Clydebank, have received the sad news that their brother, Flight-Sergt. George Dunville, R.F.C., was killed while flying in an aeroplane at Spittlegate near Grantham, Lincolnshire, on Wednesday, September 5th.

Flight-Sergt. Dunville, who was 24 years of age, had been almost six years with the Royal Flying Corps, had seen service in France in 1914 and 1916. He was expecting to go off to France again at an early date. His brother, Gunner D. Dunville, R.F.A., who prior to enlisting was employed with Messrs John Brown and Co. Ltd., has been over three years with the colours, and has also seen service in France and at the Dardanelles. He had just returned from France a few weeks ago, wounded in the right elbow, and was able to proceed to Belfast to be present at his brother's funeral.

HOW THE ACCIDENT OCCURRED.

The details of the accident were disclosed at an inquest which was held subsequently. Captain L. P. Aizlewood said that on Wednesday morning, 5th September, Lieut. … took up took up three pupils dual before breakfast …
