Bunge is Swahili for Parliament, or Government, and so the current name of the school, Bunge Primary School,
has been partly translated from the original name of the school, Government European School.
Tume Ya Utumishi Wa Walimu, Teachers Service Commission
The Teachers Service Commission building was the Tanganyika Standard building that was designed by C.A. Bransgrove and built in the 1950s. It was designed to have five storeys but was initially built with two storeys. The photograph shows that two more storeys were added and the colonnade on the ground floor was walled up. The building was demolished in about 2006. [This information was very kindly provided by Graham Hutton B.Arch., who is a grandson of C.A. Bransgrove, the architect.]
